Karratha body builder is Vegas bound

Karratha body builder Letty McEwan has qualified to represent Australia in the Natural Olympia in Las Vegas after her fifth place finish at the International Natural Body Building Association’s Australian Championships this month.

McEwan was the only WA representative to receive a podium finish in the Bikini category .

Her journey to the Natural Olympia only began three months ago, after McEwan overcame chronic illness to place second in into the INBA North West titles and third at the WA State titles.

After moving to Australia less than two years ago, McEwan said she was grateful and proud to have the honour to represent her new country overseas.

“It was already a victory for me to be able to train so hard from the gym, so going so far in the competition was just an incredible reward,” she said.

“I was already a winner even before to go on stage because every day I'm proving to myself that my body is mine and that with commitment and dedication I can live a normal life.

“I just want to make my family and friends proud.”

McEwan said she was training five times a week in preparation for the Natural Olympia competition.

“I have been working on my posing very hard with my coach as it was my weakness during the State Titles a few weeks ago,” she said.

“Being a Bikini competitor we have to present on stage the shape the judges are looking for of course, but a big part of the notation is about the attitude and confidence on stage.

“I am also working towards competing next year in the INBA Fitness category and completing a Personal Trainer course.”

McEwan said she was looking for sponsorship to cover her travel and competition expenses to USA.

“Unfortunately competing in USA next month is too expensive,” she said.

“It represents a lot of expenses such as flights, accommodation, food, a new bikini, makeup, hairdresser and tan for the competition.

“I am currently looking for sponsors who could help me next year to go as far as I can in this competition.”

Letty McEwan will compete in the Natural Olympia in Las Vegas on November 12-15.
