The Pilbara’s favourite mischievous dog is set to hit the big screen again in December and Karratha will get a first look in before it reaches cinemas across Australia.

ThePilbara News can confirm Karratha has secured the world premiere of Red Dog: True Blue, which will air at the Quarter on December 3.

The prequel to smash hit Red Dog will be released to the rest of Australia on Boxing Day.

Red Dog’s vet Rick Fenney said the movie would bring back a certain sense of nostalgia to all those privileged enough to live in the Pilbara during the Red Dog era.

City of Karratha Mayor Peter Long said it was quite a coup for Karratha to get a first look, three weeks before the rest of the country gets to see the movie.

A movie is not the only big announcement regarding the Pilbara Wanderer, with plans set in motion for a more permanent tribute to be revealed in the Pilbara News this Wednesday.

The event will start at 7.30pm.
