West Pilbara Detectives have arrested a man over a late-night glassing incident in the Karratha Tambrey Tavern carpark.

Bronson Tusi Tepa, 24, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after he allegedly hit someone with a smashed glass bottle.

The alleged offence happened during a fight that broke out between a group of people in the Tambrey carpark shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 1.

Mr Tepa allegedly struck a 31-year-old man in the face with a bottle he had smashed on the ground.

The blow sliced open an artery behind the man’s temple and he was taken to Nickol Bay Hospital with serious injuries, before being released early last week.

West Pilbara Detective Senior Constable Gina Horch said they had identified the accused through a combination of CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses.

She said a woman who recorded the incident on her mobile phone had not yet come forward, but detectives would still like to speak to her.
