The City of Karratha have added a number of improvements to the Karratha Back Beach boat ramp upgrade after finding the project is likely to come in under budget.

The project, which will involve the replacement of the existing jetty and boat ramps and establishment of a formal parking, will now include additional seating, shade, bin banks and parking.

Funding for the developments has been provided in part by the Recreational Boating Facilities Scheme.

City of Karratha deputy mayor John Lally said the savings have resulted in better outcomes for the community.

“This is a great example of how prudent project and financial management has been able to deliver better results for the community,” he said.

“We know this area is popular with the local community so it’s fantastic that we are able to bring forward additional improvement works and provide new seating, shade, bins and overflow parking.”

The Karratha back beach works are set to be completed in August of this year.
