After the success of last year’s inaugural Tom Price Movember Charity Cricket match, organisers have decided to grow their best Merv Hughes stash and take another swing at raising money for beyondblue.

The match will be held on November 28 at the Clem Thompson Oval from 5pm with the Beyond Blues once again matching up against the Pro-State Warriors, both with a point to prove after last year’s draw. Each team will be made up of 12 players drawn from whichever Movember fundraisers who join the Rio Tinto Tom Price team raise the most.

Those chosen will compete according to indoor cricket rules with batters going in pairs for four overs, a loss of wicket equalling minus five runs, and each player having to bowl two overs.

Eight year Mo-Bro and event organiser Brad Malingre said the match had received overwhelming support from sponsors such as CADDS Group, Pinjarra Crane Hire, NWMC, Veolia, Shire of Ashburton and Gumala.

“We have also had great support from local community groups with the Fortescue Cricket Association donating some auction items as well as some framed Pilbara Photos from Kaz O’Brien from Ramble and Drift, ” he said.

“We are still on the lookout for more prizes to go into our 200 ticket draw.”

The Rio Tinto Tom Price Movember team is 37th in the national team rankings.
