Netball fundraiser promises star power
A host of talented State, national and international sportspeople will share their hard-won knowledge and a few laughs with guests at the Leisureplex on Friday.
The Karratha Netball Association has organised a Sportspersons Night as a fundraiser for its upcoming bid at the North West Netball Championships, which six of its teams will compete in.
The association has recruited former international netball coach and ANZ Championship commentator Sue Gaudion to be MC on the night, and Red Dog will also pay a visit.
The long list of stars attending as panellists include former ANZ Championship netballer Arahi Wall, New Zealand basketballer Aroha Haumaha, Olympic water polo player and World Ironman Championship competitor Belinda Brooks, national female AFL and State softball player Deanne Coates, national futsal player Jess Byrne and former West Coast footballer Andrew Embley.
KNA committee member Megan Nash said the association was excited to have so many successful sportspeople on board and guests could look forward to a great night.
“Sue Gaudion will be asking them abut their experiences, their careers, their highs, their lows,” she said.
“It’ll probably be very entertaining. She’s an absolute crack-up.
“We’ll be running different panels throughout the night. We’ll have raffles, auctions, games. There’ll be a bit of everything really. It should be a good entertaining night.”
Gaudion will also be running free netball clinics for junior players on Sunday.
