Stopping over in Onslow, or any Pilbara town for that matter, one of the last things you might expect is a watering hole which would not be out of place overlooking Cottesloe Beach.

This is the case though with the recently revamped Onslow Beach Club, a polished and contemporary venue with natural light streaming in from the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ocean.

The interior is clean and inviting, with a number of seating arrangements and fancy lighting and art installations to boot.

The owners have made use of one of Onslow’s highly sought- after products — beef from Minderoo Station — as well and it features prominently in several dishes on the menu.

General manager Mark Waiss said providing something different for the locals had been a key objective for the redevelopment.

“The feedback since opening has been really positive; everyone seems surprised they have a venue of this quality in Onslow, ” he said.

“I think we looked at what else we could offer the area and how we could go about offering a bit of variety.

“It is still a work in progress to try and tailor it to be able to cover the diverse market here.”

As for the beer selection, Mr Waiss said the inclusion of WA’s Feral Brewery, his personal favourite, on tap was a no brainer.

The hotel is already making waves in the business world, having been nominated for the WA Regional Small Business Awards.
