Nickol residents could not miss the new Tambrey Pavilion, which started to emerge from the Tambrey Oval in March and is now having its roof and walls installed.

The Tambrey Oval is the only active recreation space in Karratha where there are no change room or pavilion facilities provided on-site for users.

The new pavilion will remedy this, providing the same level of amenity afforded to the eastern end of Karratha and surrounding towns.

The building includes change rooms, toilet facilities, a community hall, a storeroom, a kitchenette and a servery, making it suitable for a wide variety of uses.

It will provide the City with a sporting hub in Karratha’s western suburbs and offers further venue options for events, community groups and sporting fixtures.

Once this facility is complete, we anticipate increased participation from existing sports clubs based at the oval and other local groups and organisations for whom this space would be appropriate.

The facility will be available to groups and individuals throughout the community.

The development of the Tambrey facility is funded by the City and has received support from the Department of Sport and Recreation’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund and the Pilbara Development Commission.

The work is progressing well.

All brickwork has been completed and structural works and roof sheeting are nearing completion. The building is on track to meet the schedule for completion in October.
