Paris awaits for junior beauty queen
Disneyland and Paris both rank as dream holiday destinations for many, and a Karratha girl is about to experience her first taste of both in a global beauty pageant.
Kobe Giles, 10, has been selected as a 2016 finalist in the juniors category of an international pageant called Face of the Globe, a modelling competition that emphasises natural beauty inside and out and raising money for charity.
The grand final will be held on April 2 to 9 next year in Disneyland Paris.
She is one of 20 junior finalists worldwide, including only two other Australian girls.
Kobe has a passion for modelling, singing, dancing and acting, and has been involved in a number of performances in the Pilbara. She placed third in the Country Girl Australia pageant earlier this year.
Kobe’s mother, Dalveen Giles, said making the finals of an international competition was a big moment for her daughter.
“Kobe hasn’t quite wrapped her head around it, ” she said. “It’s just starting to click.”
Kobe is looking forward to the final, even if she isn’t sure what to expect
“It’s sinking in more now. I’m doing more research and learning more about it.”
Kobe’s talent entry in the competition will be a jazz dance set to Madonna’s Material Girl, which she noted was ironic given the pageant’s charity focus.
She has set up a fundraising page on donation website Just Giving to raise money for the pageant’s main charity, Rainbow Child, and her chosen charity is CareFlight, a medical group based in the Eastern States similar to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
