The weather was so incredibly good on Saturday that we believed every boat owner in Exmouth was on the water,

Not only was the weather sensational but the water clarity was insane.

The turquoise colours of our waters both in the gulf and west side had many people snapping pics and uploading to social media.

In deeper waters, the rich blue and purple colours had pelagic fish in feeding mode and several great captures from local and visiting boats were recorded, including the double hook-up and tagging of two blue marlin by Pete and Alyssa Faulkner after having three blue marlin in the spread at once.

The crew managed to get six billfish in two days: four blues, one striped and a big black estimated at 180kg.

They also caught mahi mahi, yellowfin tuna and on the days when it was too windy to get out wide, they got into some tasty squid and bread and butter species around the marina.

The excitement is high among the marlin anglers as the blue season is in full swing.

The upcoming Heavy Tackle Tournament already has well over a dozen boats entered and we believe it will be a cracker.

Fishing with young kids can be very rewarding and there’s nothing quite like the fun of squidding.

Kaz Cooper has been in Exmouth while travelling around Australia with her kids Keira, 2, and Daley, 5.

They tried chasing squid for the first time off Bundegi and had an amazing session.

They cruised the flats south of Bundegi and sight-cast at big squid on the surface in the lead-up to high tide.

The Ika squid jigs used were in various colours and they got hammered but held up well considering the size of the squid. Other boats on the flats were finding it challenging to entice the squid and we believe that the 20lb fluoro carbon leader also assisted in tempting the large squid in the crystal clear waters.

During the family stay, they also managed to get into queenfish off the tip of the cape and when the days were windy the kids had great fun with bream, Spanish flag and all sorts of other species in the marina, as well down in the gulf creeks.

We had some renowned fly fishing anglers here last week chasing billfish on fly.

Ray Horsey has fished in many areas around the world for all sorts of species on fly and this is his return trip to Exmouth.

He was joined by long-time friend Neil Shephard and Gordon Dunlop.

Again, I say how lucky we are to have a world-class fishery here in Exmouth that has people travel from around the world to fish our incredible waters.
