Pupils show their colours for cancer fight

Courtney FowlerPilbara News

Students at Baynton West Primary School joined footy fans around the country who wore their favourite football team’s colours to support the fight against cancer last month.

For the past 25 years Fight Cancer Foundation has supported cancer patients and their families and through Footy Colours Day.

Every dollar raised goes towards the care treatment and support of cancer patients and their families and helps fund important research into finding a cure.

Baynton West Physical Education coordinator Courtney Jones said it was the third year the school had participated in the fundraiser.

“Every student from Kindy up to Grade 6 donated a gold coin for the cause to wear their footy jumper to school,” he said.

“We’ve also run an accuracy kicking competition and a long kicking competition which the students donated a dollar to participate to have a go, our longest kick was more than 25m.”

“Every year Footy Colours Day seems to get bigger and bigger at Baynton West, it’s a great cause to support.”
