With just over a week until the Red Dog Relay kicks off in Karratha, the Pilbara's biggest outdoor adventure race has attracted record numbers of event registrations.

Red Dog Relay event director Peter Kay said registrations were already up 30 per cent on figures from previous years.

He said he expected more than 300 people to particpate in the 2015 event on May 29-30.

"The relay attracts a massive travelling roadshow of challengers, support crew, sponsors and stakeholders who spend a fantastic two days travelling across the stunning Pilbara," he said.

"The mountain bike leg is a real highlight for most of our challengers.

"And it's not just the locals who love the eight-leg, multisport relay; there are four Perth-based teams participating in this year's event.

Yara Pilbara has entered three corporate teams into the 2015 Red Dog Relay with one team travelling from Perth to test its talent against two Karratha-based teams.

Yara Pilbara plant manager Rob Stevens said the relay was a great team-building activity and gave employees a chance to strengthen their relationships with work colleagues.

"We're really happy to give our employees an opportunity to get involved in this fantastic community event," he said.

"It's also creating a really great atmosphere of camaraderie in the workplace; some people are training together while others are providing some much-needed motivation.

"This will be a great event and I hope to see lots of supporters down on the beach shouting for their teams."
