Riders vie for third-round podium spots

Round three of the North West Championships was held at the Wickham, Roebourne and Point Samson (WRAPS) track on Sunday.

A range of riders took to the track in front of a large crowd to have their shot at a place on the podium.

In the feature race of the day, Robbo Lovett from Karratha took out first spot, followed by Jake Watling and David Alexander, both also from Karratha.

In the Pro Open, Jake Watling came first, with Newman’s Blair Outram in second and Karratha’s Tyson Lind third.

Robbo Lovett won the Pro Lites race, with David Alexander and Tyson Lind hot on his heels.

In the Clubman race, Daniel Outram from Newman came first and in the Vets, Port Hedland rider David Malcolm claimed pole position.

Karratha’s Hannah Lovett took out first in the ladies race.

In the quad bike races, Kevin Davis from Karratha took out first in the Vets, Ryan Barron from Tom Price in the Pro Open and Ross Oreo, also from Tom Price, won the senior open feature race.

In the junior races, Grant Eastwell from Karratha took out first in both the 250cc Junior Lites and the 84cc race.

Another Karratha rider – Ethan Burmaz – took out first in the 125cc Junior Lites.

Karratha will be presenting the annual Karratha Challenge this Saturday and Sunday with large prize money expected to attract some of Western Australia’s best riders.

Other local club members are expected to produce some of the most spectacular racing seen for this season.

There will be a full range of classes racing, presenting a day of entertainment and action for spectators.

Round four of the North West Championships will be held in Paraburdoo on July 28 and 29.
