SAFE works towards improving collaboration

Karratha-led animal rescue service SAFE recently held its first in-person roundtable conference between leaders from all 10 WA branches.

The Lotterywest-funded conference was held in Perth to finalise an operations manual to guide the organisation across its State branches, which spans from Kununurra to Esperance.

SAFE, which was founded in Karratha 13 years ago and has its headquarters here, is in the midst of developing a new business strategy, beginning with the appointment of its first executive officer in January.

SAFE founder Sue Hedley said she was proud to see how much the organisation had grown since its North West beginnings but a manual would improve collaboration and cohesion between branches.

“The roundtable brought everyone together to forge stronger working relationships, enable direct sharing of the considerable expertise that exists across the branches, (and) move us closer to achieving important strategic goals and consistent processes across the board,” she said.

“Having a manual to guide new branches will grow the foster care model of animal care and adoption. We will be able to reach so many more animals in need of rehoming.”
