Upgrades to the Exmouth Boat Harbour will be boosted by $11.2m in Royalties for Regions spend announced in last weeks’ State Budget.

Exmouth Game Fishing Club president Jeni Gates said the long-awaiting funding was welcome news.

“I think it’s great to be moving with the times and get that support,” she said.

“Hopefully we can get it to the point where one day we have cruise ships dock instead of anchor up.”

North West Central MLA Vince Catania said the State Budget would continue to build a stronger economy, attract investment and create jobs and opportunities for regional families, businesses and communities.

“This budget delivers on all my infrastructure election commitments with construction on the long-awaited Carnarvon aged care facility beginning in the 2016/17 financial year and the continuation of the Exmouth Boat Harbour and Onslow Hospital,” he said.

“The Nationals in Government have worked hard to ensure North West Central communities continue to thrive, develop and contribute to the State’s economy.

“Royalties for Regions'''' is providing better infrastructure and services for North West Central, while also helping to build regional economies, making for vibrant and sustainable regional communities.”

Mr Catania said his electorate was set to benefit from a wide variety of funding announcements in the budget including health, arts, tourism and education.
