You may have been forgiven for worrying an invasion from the dark side was imminent as a lone Stormtrooper walked into Karratha today.

Thankfully this Stormtrooper confirmed he was working for the light side of the force by raising awareness and money for Monash Children's Hospital.

Scott Loxley is in the midst of a walk around Australia which has so far seen him trek from Melbourne across the bottom end of Australia and up the west coast.

Mr Loxley said WA was always going to be the most challenging leg of the journey.

"I thought coming across the Nullarbor was Nullarboring but once I left Perth coming up through Geraldton, Carnarvon and now Karratha - man, there's a lot of nothing," he said.

"The heat is ridiculous. You're a sweaty mess at the end of every day.

"My legs are good and physically I have no problem, but mentally I am sick of myself."

Scarce food along the West coast has meant Mr Loxley has turned to eating road kill to supplement his diet.

Despite the hardships, Mr Loxley said he was happy to do it for the kids.

"Some of these kids at the hospital they're going through a hard enough time," he said.

"Even on my worst days some of those kids, I think about what they're going through and realise I've got nothing to complain about."

Mr Loxley said people can stop him on the side of the road, as he makes his way to his next stop on Port Hedland to make donations or go through https://newmonashchildrenshospital.everydayhero.com/au/stormingaroundaustralia.
