Super attendance rates were rewarded with superpowers for students at Wickham Primary School last Friday.

Children from kindergarten to Year 6 flocked to school dressed as their favourite superheroes, ready for a day of fun activities to celebrate good attendance during term two.

They had a ball competing in an eight-station obstacle course that included egg-and-spoon races with real eggs, dress-up relays and a disco.

To top it all off, each child received a Paddle Pop.

The day finished with an assembly, at which students with top attendance rates of 90 per cent or more went into raffle draws for each class, with the winners taking home some of the school’s specialised robots such as Bee Bots, Edisons and drones as prizes.

The theme was a literal take on the Wickham Primary School values model of HEROES, an acronym that stands for high expectations, equity, respect, opportunities for all, everyone working together, and safety.

The school has introduced novelty attendance reward days once or twice every term this year as a fun incentive for children to come to school.

Staff organised a colour run obstacle course at the end of Term 1 and held a water and mud day with the help of local volunteer firefighters midway through Term 2.
