Town nose to dig deep
A Tom Price local raised nearly $2000 for SIDS and Kids WA at the recent markets.
Ellen Bailey sold $1344 worth of merchandise and raised $523 in donations for red nose day.
Mrs Bailey said she was happy with the community support despite not raising as much as she had expected.
"We did receive a lot of money in donations though which was a surprise.
"Because I'm a midwife and registered nurse I know a lot of people who are affected by this or have suffered a loss."
Mrs Bailey said she took over the reins raising funds for Red Nose Day after the previous organisers left town.
The Tom Price stall sold foam red noses, stuffed kangaroos, koalas and snakes, and one large red nose for the local Betta Electrical truck.
Red Nose Day is the biggest annual fundraiser for SIDS and Kids WA, a charity that provides support for families affected by sudden infant death syndrome, and education and training for expectant parents and healthcare professionals.
Mrs Bailey said anyone who has suffered a loss through SIDS could contact the SIDS and Kids WA child loss support line on 1800 686 780.
