Rio Tinto has cleaned up after one of its iron ore trains came off the tracks near Tom Price this week.

A spokesman confirmed the incident involving a train carrying empty iron ore carts derailed on Tuesday afternoon.

“A number of empty ore cars derailed from the rail line in the incident,” he said.

“Removal of the derailed cars has now been completed and track repair works are underway.

“The rail network continues to operate at a reduced capacity between the mines and ports.”

The spokesman said the rail line was expected to be fully repaired and open to traffic today.

No one was injured in the incident.
