Motorists driving down Macroy Street will once again be able to turn on to Karratha Terrace after the council agreed to reopen the intersection.

The intersection was cut off in 2013 as part of the Karratha City Centre Road Layout Plan.

Following a request from Karratha Vet Hospital owner Rick Fenny, it was decided to reopen the road as a left turn-only intersection.

Mr Fenny said reopening the road was a sensible decision that would improve traffic flow.

"It is a small victory and I thank the City for looking at that, but I would still rather they widen Sharpe Avenue and get rid of the island on Warambie Road," he said.

Motorists will not be able to turn right because of safety concerns created by the proximity to the Sharpe Avenue intersection and existing median strip.

Modifications to reopen the corner are due to start in March.
