Underground power project nears completion
Horizon Power is urging residents and visitors to take care around the Karratha light industrial area as works to connect the underground power network progress.
Earlier this month, Horizon Power started disconnecting and dismantling overhead power poles on Mooligunn Road.
Pilbara Underground Power Project manager James Carney said more than half of the Karratha LIA is now connected to the underground network.
“We urge people to take care around works as we start to dismantle the existing overhead network infrastructure,” he said.
“Please be mindful of where you park your cars throughout the day, making sure they are not directly under any powerlines so it is clear for the works to continue running smoothly.
The PUPP is said to provide a more reliable and safe power supply as well as open streetscapes.
