Year 12 students around the Pilbara are preparing to say goodbye to school and hello to their final WACE exams.

While other kids spent the last two weeks of holidays soaking up the sunshine and going to the beach, Year 12 students around the region have been busy studying for their mock and WACE exams.

Karratha Senior High School’s Paris Drechsler said the key to successfully studying for exams was good time management.

“Revising for my mock exams has been great because it’s made me realise I know everything for my WACE exams, it’s just a matter of revision,” she said,

“It’s important to take some time out from study; I find exercise is a good way to relax when I’m stressed out.

“I plan on having a gap year when I finish but after that I would love to go to study nursing at uni.”

KSHS deputy principal Jennifer McMahon said was proud of her Year 12’s preparation efforts for their final exams.

“These exams are the culmination of lots of hard work from both students and teachers” she said.

“Leading up to the exams the students have been learning lots of strategies to cope with exams and finding out what exam techniques work best for them.

“The mock exams have given the students one more chance to practice in exam conditions and to hone their knowledge for their WACE exams next month.”

WACE exams begin on Monday November 2 with Chemistry Stage 3 students first off the blocks.

The Food Science and Technology students will have to wait a bit longer to breathe a final sigh of relief, finishing up last on Friday November 20.

Year 12 students across WA will receive their ATAR results on December 29 and the first round of university offers will be received in January.
