Work to start on Onslow Aquatic Centre
The Onslow Aquatic Centre has moved into the construction phase after Pindan Contracting won the tender to design and construct the McRae Avenue facility.
Shire of Ashburton president Kerry White said the facility was highly anticipated in the community.
“We have appointed an experienced Western Australian company familiar with Onslow to undertake construction,” she said.
“Onslow is one step closer to having a local swimming pool and over the coming months residents will begin to see activity on site.”
Wheatstone Project deputy director Duke Snyder said the aquatic centre was an important piece of local infrastructure for the town.
“The aquatic centre will add to local amenity and provide an additional avenue for social and recreational activities,” he said.
The Onslow Aquatic Centre will be located next to Onslow Primary School and will feature a 25m, six-lane swimming pool with a shallow beach entry and free-form area, shade sails, kiosk, change rooms and a first-aid room.
