Nominations are now open to thank those who go above and beyond for the betterment of the Roebourne community.

Ngarluma Yindjibarndi Foundation's Unsung Heroes awards night, now in its sixth year, recognises those who work hard away from the limelight.

Event organiser Angela Mowarin said there had been a few changes to the awards night this year to expand the field of entrants.

"We know there's a bunch of non-indigenous people in our community doing a lot of work," she said.

"We feel they deserve a mention for all they do for our community and people too.

"We also won't have individual categories anymore so people can be nominated and voted for on any basis so long as they're helping the community."

Ms Mowarin said the awards helped build morale and shed light on the role models around town.

The awards night will be held at Roebourne Cultural Centre on July 10, with catering to be provided by Ieramugadu Cafe, entertainment by a local band and a comedian as MC.

Nomination forms can be found at businesses around the City of Karratha and must be in by 4pm on Friday, July 3.
