Karratha rugby league club seeks players
The Karratha Broncos are celebrating their 25th year as a club in 2014, but the outcome of two meetings this weekend will determine whether they field any teams this season.
Low player numbers prevented a senior squad from taking shape last year, but club president Rick Howard is hopeful this year will be different.
"We're doing a seniors meet and greet this weekend, so we need volunteers, players and coaches to get the club back up again," he said.
Howard said anyone interested in playing or helping out could come down for a barbecue at the Rec Club on Sunday at 4pm.
On the same day the club will hold an annual general meeting for junior sides at the Karratha Leisureplex at 11am next to the pool, with a free sausage sizzle and drinks.
Howard said the juniors had been going for four years and last year had about 40 players altogether from their under-6s to under-18s, but needed more players to sign up, as well as some parents to support them.
"The little kids come down and have heaps of fun, we always make it so they walk away (from training and games) with a smile on their faces and throw barbecues for them and that sort of thing," he said. Regardless if a senior side is fielded this season, Howard said the club would still celebrate with an anniversary at the Hale Road Tavern in Perth on March 2.
