Kirkwood slots four for Dampier in Wickham

The fourth round of the Karratha District junior soccer competition was played on Saturday.

In the 13s, Nickol ran out winners over Nickol 1, 3-nil, Nickol 4 proved too strong for Glory, 3-nil and Nickol 3 recorded a 2-nil win over Salt.

In the final match of the round Dampier travelled to Wickham and proved too strong for the home team in an exciting game, winning 4-2.

Brady Kirkwood scored all four Dampier goals.

In the first derby of the season in the 18s group, Nickol 2 held off a determined Nickol 1 to win 2-nil.

In the late game, Dampier took the early lead and despite a spirited challenge from Salt recorded a 3-2 win.

Junior soccer took another leap forward in the district at the weekend too, with the reintroduction of the Wickham Junior Soccer Club to the competition.

This weekend Karratha representative teams travel to Hedland to compete against teams from Hedland and Newman.
