Little athletes ready to compete
Karratha Little Athletics for 2015 has begun, with the first training night last Friday.
Training nights focus on developing the competitors' skills and technique for competition nights, when individuals pursue their ambitions to achieve their personal bests.
The running track is always a favourite, with the hurdles, the 100m and 200m being some of the running events the budding young athletes practised.
While the pace on the track was hot, the field events also provided many opportunities for the children to refine their techniques.
In the shot put, discus and javelin, many of the younger participants threw for the first time, yet those returning from last year had the chance to reflect on last year's performance.
In the triple and high jumps participants will need to focus a little further on refining that hop, skip and jump and scissor kick over the bar.
As always, the night wrapped up with a snag off the barbecue for the young competitors.
The first competition night is this Friday and will be the first opportunity for the athletes to secure those personal best ribbons they pin so proudly to their chests.
