Port Hedland Rovers have the chance to go back-to-back in both grades this weekend after the reserves side pipped the Karratha Kats in the preliminary final.

Rovers prevailed 9.6 (60) to 6.5 (41) in the low-scoring match held in Karratha which only had one point in it going into the final term.

Rovers coach Russell Pike said it had been a good battle.

"The boys stuck to the game plan, it was even at half-time, one point in it in the third, and then we just ran over the top of them," he said.

Pike said constant pressure from the team and their tackling had taken the sting out of the Kats.

Tristan Myers and Emmanuel Sokiri were the highest goal scorers for Rovers with two goals each.

Kats had six different goal scorers through Tyrone Wiseman, Kirk Harris, John McLennan, Jake Graaumans, Clinton Cummins and Ethan Heath.

The Rovers reserves side will have home-ground advantage, thanks to the success of the league side, when they face minor premiers the Wickham Wolves.

Pike said the Wolves were going to be tough and they would have to be on their game from the start.

"It's all up to the players now," he said.
