WA police have suspended the search for a person who went missing at a popular beach off the coast of Denmark on Friday.

A police media spokesperson said officers had shut down the search for the snorkeler pending new information.

William Bay National Park in William Bay — about 14km west of Denmark — was closed on Friday afternoon as emergency services responded to reports of a person requiring assistance.

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions issued an alert about confirming William Bay National Park had been closed due to a “police operation”.

DBCA revealed this afternoon the location would reopen at 8am on Monday March 17 as the search for the missing person has been suspended.
