The Pilbara's most fiercely contested basketball competition returns to Onslow on the weekend of August 23 and 24.

As teams compete for the coveted top prize, spectators can enjoy the food stalls and entertainment, while children are kept busy with the bouncy castle and other fun activities.

Former Perth Wildcats star Brad Robbins and ex-West Coast Waves basketballer Melissa Marsh will be special guests at the carnival, offering coaching advice to all teams and players.

There will also be meet-and-greet opportunities for the community.

Shire of Ashburton president Kerry White said the Onslow Basketball Carnival was an opportunity for the wider community to come together and enjoy a weekend of family fun, entertainment and exciting competition.

The Onslow Basketball Carnival will consist of the following competition categories:

·Open men's: Over-17s.

·Open women's: Over-17s.

·Men's under-17s.

·Women's under-17s.

·Girls' under-13s.

·Boys' under-13s.

Registration forms are available at www. ashburton.wa.gov.au/community/onslow, and at Onslow Shire Office, 7 First Avenue, Onslow and MPC, corner McGrath and Hooley Avenue, Onslow.

Registrations close on Friday, August 1.
