Stars shine on glitzy night

Karratha Basketball Association hosted its first glitzy night of nights with a Brownlow Medal-style count at the Karratha Leisureplex last month.

Teams from the four divisions dressed in their best for the event, which ran through some of the season's best moments caught on camera and to watch the count unfold.

Jacqueline Gartner, of the Sinners, won the women's B-grade most valuable player in her first season in the competition.

Sinners almost made it to the grand final before falling to the Comets in the preliminary final last Thursday.

Ashleigh Langford was named runner-up after a stellar season for Panthers, who started slow, but picked up their game attendance in the second half of the season.

Long-range bomber Maeve Walker, of Thunder B, was the runner-up for the men's B-grade MVP.

Thunder B went from the bottom of the ladder in 2013-14 to dropping only one game of the regular matches in 2014-15.

Smoked Trouts dynamo Ashley Benjamin was named MVP for men's B-grade reflective of his status as a player who needed to be contained.

Aroha Haumaha was voted the women's A-grade MVP and teammate Sue Jans was runner-up.

It was an outstanding season for their team Just Us.

Tate Wilson, of Mayuga Majik, was the MVP for men's A-grade and Coral Trouts' Matthew Rhodes was runner-up.
