Sunken prawn trawler listed on Gumtree
The daughter of the ill-fated prawn trawler Returner’s skipper Murray Turner is trying to give away her father’s vessel.
An advertisement appeared on Gumtree from Megan Turner looking for someone to take the 14-metre vessel off their hands.
The Returner sunk off the Pilbara in July last year during a 10-day prawn fishing trip.
Mr Turner and crew Chad Fairley, 30, and his friend Mason Carter, 26, all drowned.
The Turner family is in “no position” to dispose of the vessel themselves and there was a “very restricted” time frame to get rid of it.
The ad says the damaged boat could be used for scrap metal and five fishing licences were also for sale.
A WA Police spokeswoman said the investigation into how the trawler sank was ongoing with the Australian Marine Safety Authority and Department of Transport finalising their reports.
