Four aspiring young tennis players from Wickham recently ventured south to compete against the best juniors from WA and interstate in the Busselton Junior Tennis Tournament last month.

Living in a remote part of the State means Charli Moore, Hunter Moore, Lawson Humphries and Meeza Humphries don't get the same exposure to top-level competition and coaching their opponents have access to, so the tournament was a valuable learning experience for them.

Hosted by the Busselton Tennis Club, the four-day competition was a bronze-level event on the National Optus Junior Tour.

About 150 players competed across four age groups, including 24 contestants holding an Australian ranking.

Charli and Meeza played well together to finish runners up in the 10s girls' doubles, while Lawson delivered a surprise result by defeating the top seed and Australian-ranked player Zack Melanie 4-1, 4-1 in the final to take out the 10s boys' singles title for the second consecutive year.
