Unanimous decisions see Wickham boxers claim titles
Wickham Peak 1 Boxing Club is the home of two intermediate State champions after successful fights in Perth on the weekend.
Daniel Stuart, 16, and Luke Morrison, 20, both punched above their weight to take out the title.
Daniel, who took up boxing with the club 18 months ago, weighed in at 75kg, but as there was no matched opponent, fought an 81kg fighter.
It was only Daniel's fourth fight, but he took out his opponent in a 3-0 unanimous points decision.
It was the same story for Morrison, a 91kg fighter, who fought a 104kg opponent in the final.
He too blew away the competition with a 3-0 unanimous result.
Head coach Mick Hale said it was a remarkable result for the boxers.
"Both have worked really hard to get to this level," he said.
"Congratulations from the Peak 1 family on a great effort and well deserved results."
Stuart and Morrison stepped up their training in the four weeks before their fights, with training five nights a week as well as cardio exercise. Hale said the club was looking for sponsorship so members could attend competitions.
