The Karratha Water Polo Association got right back into its Thursday night Water Polo competition on January 16 with the Barracudas men and women's sides a bit rusty from the Christmas holiday break.

Pirates prevailed 11-3 over Barracudas in the women's game with Anouska Angove chipping in five of her side's goals to seal the big win.

Barracudas' Amy Kroonstuiver, along with Pirates Kerryan Hoff and Angove, were named the three best and fairest players for the match.

Meanwhile the men's game was one of the highest scoring matches of the season with Pirates crushing Barracudas 16-7.

Pirates' Justin Angove got a massive goal tally of seven to be the highest goal scorer.

He was also named one of the best and fairest along with fellow Pirate Chris Syme and Barracudas Dan Pederson.

KWPA secretary Anouska Angove said it was great to have a proper electronic scoreboard now when matches were played.

She said the association would be sending a men and women's side to compete in the WA Water Polo Country Championships in Busselton from February 27 to March 2.

"We wish all team members the very best and congratulate them," Angove said.

New players interested in joining the association can head to Tuesday training nights, 5.45pm for women and 7pm for men, or come and watch a game on Thursday nights from 6.30pm.
