What is happening at Middleton Beach? My partner and I spent a total of seven nights in a quirky place called Albany, staying in two holiday places in picturesque Middleton Beach.

To our horror, smack bang on the beautiful foreshore is a huge sign declaring a new eight-storey hotel complex soon to be built by the Aus Global Group, part of an international construction and investment consortium with head offices in Perth, China and Hong Kong, a long ways from Middleton Beach.

Looking around this very pretty spot, there are no other multi-storey high-rise complexes making this new development an eyesore in such a place.

Sixty-six rooms equate to sixty-six more vehicles, plus those of the management, staff and service people.

Sure it will create some jobs, but at what cost to the current ambience of such a lovely spot.

We have no axe to grind, we are just visitors from another state alarmed at what is happening here! And am certainly not against this development but purely object to the inappropriate location.

Are Middleton Beach residents clamouring for this monstrosity to be built or is this really just another opportunity for investors?

Residents of Middleton Beach and Albany, you deserve better than this!
