VideoAustralian batsman Marnus Labuschagne has opened up about the scrutiny on his form after the first Test, his first-innings knock in Adelaide and the viral beer snake moment.

Adelaide centurion and Player of the Match Travis Head has taken a dig at the Aussie team’s doubters after their comprehensive win over India in the second Test.

After being pummelled to the tune of 295 runs in Perth to open the Border-Gavaskar series, their seventh-biggest defeat on Australian shores, the home side copped the brunt of angry fans.

Critics and commentators were stirred by comments made by Josh Hazlewood about the batters needing to do their job after the third day at Perth Stadium amid their 104 all out, suggesting the team was fractured.

Indian great Sunil Gavaskar then stirred the pot further after Hazlewood was ruled out of the pink-ball match with a side injury, saying it may have had something to do with his comments.

But after blasting a breathless 140 from 141 to break the back of the tourists on his home deck, Head made a point of Australia’s unified dressing room.

“It’s a good dressing room to be in. It’s a tight one,” he said.

“Most people might suggest otherwise but we knew if we rocked up this week and put in a good performance, nothing was ever guaranteed, but we thought we’d give it a good shake.

“So, nice momentum and now we’ve got to go on with it.”

Australian skipper Pat Cummins also addressed the “noise” after he returned to form in the second innings, collecting 5-57, including bowling opposition number Rohit Sharma with a gem late on day two.

“It was a great week,” Cummins added.

“We knew we were far away from the team we want to be in Perth and this is how we want to play.

“There’s never that much noise within the group, we know what a good unit we are and having someone like Starcy is amazing.

“He does it time and again for over a decade.”
