Ben Simmons could make his long-awaited return to the NBA next week, with reports the Nets star is a chance of facing the Jazz as early as next Tuesday (AEST).

Simmons has only featured in six matches this season and hasn’t played since the November 7 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks due to a lower back nerve impingement.

The former Rookie of the Year has endured a difficult past few seasons in the league, with Simmons averaging a career low 6.5 points per game this season, although he has cracked more than 10 rebounds per game for the first time in his career.

While it’s been a frustrating couple of months for the three-time All Star, he could be back on court next week according to leading NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.

“After practising with the Brooklyn Nets’ G League team this weekend, there’s optimism that Ben Simmons could return as soon as Monday vs. the Utah Jazz, sources tell ESPN,” he posted on X.

“Simmons has been out with a lower back nerve impingement since November 6.”

The Nets are 11th in the East with a 17-26 record, but Simmons’ return could be the spark they need to contend for a spot in the play-in tournament.
