Bowes smashes record for fastest List A double-century
Canterbury opener Chad Bowes has broken the record for the fastest double-century in men's List A matches.
Bowes reached his double ton off just 103 balls against Otago in Christchurch while playing in the Ford Trophy, New Zealand's main List A competition.
The previous record was jointly held by Australia's Travis Head and India's N Jagadeeshan, who reached the milestone in 114 balls.
Bowes, who has represented New Zealand in limited-overs cricket, hit seven sixes and 27 fours as he scored 205 from 110 balls in his 100th List A match, helping Canterbury post 9-343.
"It might sink in over the next day or two ... glad it was my day," the 32-year-old said.
"It started off pretty nicely so I just kept going. It was working, so I didn't try to rein it in too much."
Batting second, Otago folded for 103, handing Canterbury a 240-run victory.
