A day after he spoke about the “pride” he’d take wearing the Indigenous All-Stars jumper next month, West Coast Eagles star Liam Ryan is under investigation for allegedly being involved in a brawl at a music festival.

Ryan, 28, and a West Coast premiership player, was part of the unveiling of the new jersey, having been included among 11-players named for the clash with Fremantle.

But after video emerged of a man alleged to be Ryan engaged in a serious altercation with another male in front of onlookers, the 28-year-old could find himself in trouble.

The incident is the second for the Eagles in the off-season after Reuben Ginbey was arrested and charged by West Australian police after he was allegedly caught urinating in public, also at a music festival

Police alleged the 20-year-old Eagles Emerging Talent winner also failed to comply with directions to give his personal details, and he’s now due before the courts.

Richmond also suspended gun defender Noah Balta for the first four games of the 2025 season after he was charged with assault over an alleged late-night incident near the Victoria/NSW border.

Ryan last year signed a contract extension with the Eagles until the end of 2026.

West Coast responded to the matter with a statement realeased on Friday afternoon.

“The West Coast Eagles are aware of an incident involving AFL player Liam Ryan in Fremantle on Wednesday evening,” the statement read.

“The Club has advised the AFL Integrity Unit.

“Liam and his partner Evana are safe, and Liam will continue with pre-season training on Friday morning.

“The Club is working to gather all the information, will support Liam throughout this process and will make no further comment at this time.”
