Dot’s is the place to celebrate creativity
Cross stitching, hand-made cards and potted plants are just a few of the creative crafts which can be created with the Cancer Council’s craft group at Dot’s Place Bunbury.
The group of women will start back on January 31 and meet every Tuesday from 9.30am to 11.30am.
Group member Sue Suckling said the craft group had been running for around six months and she loved meeting other women and coming up with creative ideas.
“We come up with different sorts of things to make and sometimes give them away as gifts,” she said.
Cancer Council Western Australia South West regional education officer Dianne Pope said the craft group provided a welcoming, creative space for people affected by cancer.
“The craft group provides an important role for those affected by cancer in a caring space for creative expression in a fun, social setting and is a welcome, weekly break from routine,” Ms Pope said.
“Most of the items are taken home by the participants but many have also been made with fundraising in mind, others may even want to join you in your craft.
“The group facilitators are willing to help participants to try a new craft or bring your own work and do your own thing.”
There is no need to register beforehand, participants are encouraged to come along to any of the Tuesday meetings from 9.30am at the Forrest Avenue centre.
